Exciting New Partnership: Dusk Dances x Casa de Danza
We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Dusk Dances and Casa de Danza in Toronto — a collaboration rooted in a shared commitment to supporting dance artists through meaningful access and opportunity.
Beginning this season, Casa de Danza will facilitate 20 hours of studio space at The Fifth Dance for Dusk Dances every year. This space is more than just a room with mirrors — it’s a platform for growth, creation, and community. Artists participating in Dusk Dances will be able to use this space not only for rehearsals, but also to host fundraisers, workshops, community events, and more.
This partnership marks an exciting step forward in our collective efforts to remove barriers and create tangible support for dance artists working in Toronto.
Dusk Dances is one of Canada's longest-running outdoor dance series, with its flagship week-long festival taking place at Withrow Park, Toronto, drawing thousands of audience members annually. Four to five choreographers are invited to create ten-minute pieces inspired by the park’s natural environment. Audiences are invited on a pay-what-you-wish basis to this innovative site-specific festival, which is not only an artistic event but a social and cultural one as well.
Based in Tkaronto/Toronto, Casa de Danza is an artist-led, multidisciplinary dance organization with deep roots in Latin American and contemporary practices. Their work uplifts cultural and artistic expression by centring equity, access, and intergenerational knowledge-sharing. Through residencies, presentations, and artistic collaborations, Casa de Danza creates spaces where artists — particularly those from equity-deserving communities — can connect, create, and thrive.
Together, Dusk Dances and Casa de Danza hope to empower artists not only with performance opportunities but also with the infrastructure and flexibility they need to sustain their creative practices year-round.
Stay tuned for more details on how artists can access this support, as well as what’s to come from this dynamic new partnership.
